Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup Double Chocolate Cupcakes

It sounded like a good idea at the time.

In reality, it gave me a sugar buzz and sort of made my stomach ache.

Ergo, this is the best thing I’ve ever made.

Start with your favorite chocolate cake. Bake into cupcakes.

Fill with peanut butter frosting. Cover with a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup. Top with chocolate buttercream and sprinkles.

Chocolate Buttercream Frosting

frosts 24 cupcakes

1/2 cup solid vegetable shortening

1/2 cup (1 stick) butter or margarine softened

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

4 cups sifted confectioners’ sugar

4 tablespoons +/- milk

1/4 cup cocoa powder +/-, sifted

1/4 cup melted chocolate (can be anything you have lying around – from chocolate chips to a chopped up bar of chocolate)

In a large bowl, cream shortening and butter. Add vanilla. Gradually add sugar, alternating with mil until desired consistency is reached. Mix in cocoa powder, to taste. Add melted chocolate.
